Best Rotisserie for a Weber Kettle: Cajun Bandit vs Onlyfire

Weber Kettle Rotisserie Kits

If you want a rotisserie for your Weber kettle then you have some great options to choose from!

Three companies are currently making rotisserie rings for Weber charcoal grills:

  • Weber: Rings for 22.5 inch kettles only ($179)
  • OnlyFire: Rings for 22.5 inch kettles only ($110)
  • Cajun Bandit: Rings for 18.5, 22.5 and 26.75 inch kettles ($160-$230)

All of these companies are selling complete kits which include the ring, a spit with two forks and a motor.  Let’s take a closer look at what these different companies are offering.

Weber Kettle Rotisserie Kits

There are ZERO affiliate links in this article.  I do not have any financial interest in which of these products, if any, you decide to buy.

Weber Rotisserie Kits

The rotisserie kit sold by Weber (model 2290) was upgraded in 2012 and now fit great on all 22.5 inch kettles including the Master Touch and Performer series.

The Weber product is made of porcelain enameled steel and is powered by a motor rated for 25 pounds.  The motor needs to be plugged in to a power outlet which is a mixed blessing.  On one hand you never have to worry about the motor having enough juice but on the other hand you will have to look at an extension cord running across your deck.

The biggest issue with the Weber product is the $179 price tag.

Onlyfire Rotisserie Kits

Onlyfire is a new player in town.  If you spend some time reading their marketing material it becomes pretty obvious that they are an overseas factory selling direct as a brand.

The nice thing about buying direct from the factory is that the prices are as low as you can get.

Onlyfire has a couple of different models for sale on Amazon including black, stainless and one kit that comes with a pizza stone.  I have no idea why you would want a pizza stone with your rotisserie.  Things are kind of strange with Amazon inventory recently so I think it  is better if you go directly to the Onlyfire website to check out what they currently offer.

Cajun Bandit Rotisserie Kits

Cajun Bandit makes an awesome array of stainless steel rotisseries that fit 18.5, 22.5 and 26.75 kettles.

It makes me happy that you can buy a rotisserie for both the portable Weber Jumbo Joe as well as the massive Weber 26.75 kettle.

For each size rotisserie you have a choice between a battery powered motor or a traditional motor with a cord.  I have used the battery powered version and found it was more than powerful enough for my needs.

What sets the Cajun Bandit products apart is that the rings can be flipped over and used on the Weber Smokey Mountain cookers.  To the best of my knowledge these are the only rotisseries that fit the 18.5 and 22.5 WSM.

Which Rotisserie Ring is the Best?

Here is the Head to Head comparison chart between the three brands.

Weber Onlyfire Cajun Bandit
Ring Material Powder Coated Steel Powder Coated Steel Stainless Steel
Motor 20 lb AC 20 lb AC 24 lb DC
Forks Two Prong Four Prong Four Prong
Counter Balance No Yes Yes
MSRP $179 $127 $167

I am going to make the call that the rotisserie from Cajun Bandit is the best.

Comparing Cajun Bandit against Weber we see that Cajun Bandit provides a counter weight and has better forks.  More important is that the motor on the Cajun Bandit is a DC battery powered unit.

I have owned both of these products and I love the battery powered motor.  The Cajun Bandit motor is just as powerful as the Weber motor and can run 36 hours on a set of batteries.  What I loved about the motor was that I didn’t have to run an ugly orange extension cord across my deck to use my rotisserie.

Comparing the Cajun Bandit to Onlyfire we see that, while the Onlyfire is cheaper, it still has the same AC motor as the Weber product.  And I have to be honest here, I would much rather support a small American business in Huntsville, Alabama than an anonymous foreign corporation.

If the folks at Cajun Bandit are out of stock then I would buy the rotisserie from Onlyfire instead of Weber’s.  The four pronged forks on the Onlyfire are an under-appreciated upgrade that will come in handy when you put a pork loin on a rotisserie.

Other Accessories

I go nuts when it comes to buying up Weber kettle accessories and there are a few that are designed specifically for your rotisserie.

The first accessory you need to check out is the Rib-O-Later.  The Rib-O-Later is a four tray Ferris Wheel that attaches to the rotisserie rod.  You can fill the trays with ribs, chicken wings, brats or even hamburgers.  The Rib-O-Later is a lot of fun to use and increases the functionality of your rotisserie.

Other accessories include grill baskets and there is also a shish kebab attachment.

Thanks for the info i am in the market for a rotisserie ring for my weber performer and my 22.5” WSM from every thing i have read the cajun bandit will fit better on both of my weber’s i have also read that the weber ring does not fit that good on the performer grill and that you would have to flip it over to fit on the WSM is this true. Does the weber ring fit both the performer and WSM?. I have tried to contact the cajun bandit by email via their web site several times in the last 3 weeks but no reply. Are they still in businesses? Any help you can give me would be great.

    Have a Blessed Day

The new Weber rotisserie ring will NOT fit the 22.5 WSM. It only fits the kettle.

If you want a ring to fit both then you need the Cajun Bandit.

I hope you have a great time with whatever you get!
