  • 4 salmon filets with skin on (150-180g) 
  • Use olive oil for cooking 
  • 2 minced garlic cloves 
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce  
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil 
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice  
  • 3 tablespoons honey  
  • Lemon pieces (optional) 
  • 2 minced garlic cloves (optional) 


Instructions to Prepare Salmon Marinade for Grilling

  • Place the marinade in a plastic bag and mix thoroughly. 
  • Add the salmon and massage it to the coat. Marinate for 3–24 hours (1 hour minimum). 
  • Take it out of the fridge 30 minutes before cooking.  
  • Remove the salmon to a plate and let the excess marinade drain.  
  • To make the sauce for baking and serving, heat the leftover marinade in a small saucepan over medium-high heat for 3 to 5 minutes, or until syrupy.  
  • Pour into bowls or jugs (some for basting, others for dishing).  
  • To prepare the BBQ grills, brush them with oil. Then preheat to medium (or medium-low for powerful BBQs).  
  • Drizzle salmon with oil and set on the BBQ, meat side down (skin side up).  
  • Cook for 3 minutes, until golden, then carefully turn with tongs. 
  • Brush the flesh with the sauce, and then secure the BBQ lid.  
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes, basting once more halfway through, or until the internal temperature reaches 50C/120F (a medium rare) or 55C/130F. 
  • Transfer the salmon to a platter and serve with the remaining sauce.
